To our SCCSA family and friends,
Spring is an exciting time for all of us at SCCSA. The weather is starting to warm , grass is turning greener, and the fields are filled with our players taking part in games, practices, and other club programs. Our spring season has been filled with lots of team successes and player development- including two of our travel soccer team- Boys Dragons ’07 and Boys Dragons ’05- reaching the State Cup Finals! Though we have experienced some weather roadblock, the Recreation Fields are filled on Sunday afternoons and will extend through the end of the school year. Also, our travel soccer tryouts have just concluded, summer camp sign-ups are in full motion, and our Little Dragons program members are having a blast!
In addition to our full schedule of programs and offerings, I would like to share some exciting leadership changes that have taken place this past winter. After 14 years, Michael Finnegan has stepped down from his position as president of the Southern Chester County Soccer Association Board of Directors. Our league will be forever indebted to him for his leadership in the position. Under Mr. Finnegan’s leadership, our club has grown to over 1,400 playing members, 72 intramural teams, and 24 travel teams. He was also a driving force behind making the game more accessible to the Latino Community and the acquisition of a negotiated lease, through a partnership with KAPA, of the Tino Leto Fields, our 10 acre grass complex used by our club and community. On behalf of all of our SCCSA Family, I extend our deepest thanks for the time, energy, and passion he gave (and continues to give) our great club.
It is with great pride that I announce that I have been elected to be the next president of the Southern Chester County Soccer Association. Having been a part of this club for the past 32 years as a player, coach, trainer, and administrator (most recently Vice President of Travel Soccer), I am excited to continue the positive progress we have achieved so that we can offer our community the best playing experiences. By no means will I be doing this alone. Helping to make SCCSA the best we can be is Gino Miraglia (new VP of Travel), Kathleen Carmody (new VP of Recreation), and Kevin Lentz (Director of Coaching). Together, we look forward to working with our board colleagues, professional trainers, coaches, managers, commissioners, and facilities personnel to offer our membership opportunities to play for fun, development, and at the highest level possible. Our volunteers and staff who work with our players truly are what makes SCCSA one of the best clubs in the area!
I look forward to seeing everyone on the fields this spring. I also would like to personally invite each of you to attend one of our remaining matches this spring.
